Viral Marketing

How does viral marketing work?

I will be using Americas Got Talent contestant Jackie Evancho as an example for this exercise.  She is the contestant that won the youtube audition for the show this season.

With over 3 million views she was able to beat out all other contestants in the youtube auditions and is now on track to win the whole season. The fact she can sing helps but whereas the other contestants only have the one media view of Television she has both the internet and television following.

Viral Marketing in Business

The same goes for business as you increase the media outlets used you increase your exposure to your market allowing you to be seen by more consumers.

This shift in thinking from traditional business models in that you can hit multiple outlets through the internet medium. Viral marketing however means that you have something popular enough that others share your message online or offline. This helps you get free advertising that you normally wouldn’t get. Unlike in the past where advertisers where concerned over people stealing there proprietary information such as commercials today they actually encourage it.

To see the video regarding Americas got Talent contestant check it out here.

How Flash affects your ranking?

Flash unfortunately is hard for search engines to read. Most web developers will tell you that it doesn’t really matter and this is an old practice for search engines. However this is still holds true today the only change is that the search engine does now recognize the text only. The problem is that they still drop your rankings because the images can’t be read.

How do you get great animation without Flash?

The best remedy for this problem is to program all animations in javascript.

Why I don’t use flash?

Flash and javascript both slow down upload times which also affect your web rankings so make sure you have less graphics and better content.

Ping is a social media syndication site that allows you to post to lots of sites with a single post.

Have you ever wondered why some people have massive social media followings and how they have time to post to all of them. This is one of the sites used to make that happen. Ping is a syndication site utilizing the sites API or in simple terms your access codes to send the post to each site from their site.

This access allows them to send the post to about 40 different accounts simultaneously. Remember if you ping it they will come and you can blast it throughout the internet.
